• Hedges such as viburnum, elaeagnus, anise, redtop and ligustrum may need some pruning now to encourage fullest branching.

• Summer bloomers such as hydrangea should be pruned as their flowers begin to decline.

• Prune citrus now.

• Don't prune spring bloomers such as azaleas, wisteria, etc. after July since they have formed the beginnings of next springs' blossoms.

• Pinch dahlias and poinsettias now.

• A product named Funginex will prevent fungal diseases such as black spot on modern roses, leaf spot on red top, and powdery mildew on crepe myrtle and gardenias.
