| • Fertilize all of your trees, palms, shrubs and lawns (if you didn't apply a weed & feed product last month) this month. • Plants such as azaleas, camellias, gardenias, hibiscus, ferns, dogwood, blueberries, magnolias, hollies, iris and redbud prefer a 4-8-8 fertilizer combination in order to create an acid soil condition. • Plants that do not prefer an acid soil condition such as ligustrum, junipers, and oaks should be fertilized with 13-6-6. Use every 12 weeks. • Consider a 16-4-8 analysis for lawns • Fertilize peaches, pecans, grapes, pears, plums, figs, persimmons, and other fruit trees with a peach-pecan fertilizer (probably 8-8-8) that contains zinc and other minor elements. • Wait until April to fertilize French hydrangeas. • Divide ground covers such as aspidistra, ferns, mondo grass, and liriope. |
